- One of the only 6 Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio appears on sale just two years after they hit the market.
- This rare example was the first of the short production roll and only has 118 kms in its marker.
Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013 , Pininfarina Sergio Concept was the best bodybuilder homage to the then recent death of Sergio Pininfarina , visible head of the Italian bodybuilder in the last decades and son of the founder, Batista “Pinin” Farina – the surname originally Was Farina and Pinin his nickname, means small. The precious concept soon had potential clients and Pininfarina decided to take it to production, in collaboration with Ferrari , but in a short and exclusive roll of only 6 copies.
In 2015 the production version was presented, less radical than the original concept, which did not even have windshields, but retained the pure and aggressive lines of the 2013 prototype. These units had a price of 3 million dollars, but still So they found buyer very soon. One of these units went to the United Arab Emirates, another 3 finished in the United States and the other two finished in Japan and Switzerland respectively. The only specimen that remained in Europe was the first of all production and is the vehicle that appears in the images, now available for sale for a price of 5 million dollars.
If the concept took as a base the Ferrari 458 Spider , the production model was based on the performance based variant of this model, the 458 Speciale A . Of the donor model only the windscreen and the passenger compartment remain visually, the rest of the panels are completely new , and it is very difficult to guess at a glance which model is related at a technical level. Frame and mechanics, in theory, remain unchanged, so it maintains the same atmospheric V8 (the latest V8 atmospheric series of the brand) that we could find in the Speciale and Speciale A.
Only six copies were made.
The 4.5-liter atmospheric eight-cylinder engine delivers 605 hp at 9,000 rpm , 35 hp more than the Ferrari 458 Italia, and allows the Ferrari Sergio to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.0 seconds.
The Swiss unit, which appears in the pictures, was commissioned in a bright yellow color although it has not been able to see too much pavement in the last two years, because its odometer only reflects 118 kilometers of use . So we can consider it as a brand new model.
Given its rarity, not only because of its low production but also because of the nature of its origin, created in honor of the extensive and prolific career of Sergio Pininfarina, it is not surprising that its owner decided to put it on sale for 5 million dollars . A clearly optimistic price, but that should not stop more than one collector, especially those who could not be made in his day with one of these rare units.
