The version with family body of the range XF of Jaguar is already for sale from 45 600 euros. The first units will hit the market in October 2017.
It measures 4955 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2960 mm, making it 6 mm shorter than the XF Sportbrake 2012 , which it replaces, and has a further 51 mm of battle. With respect to the previous model it gains 15 liters of capacity of trunk (565 l). By size and price, its main competitors are the Audi A6 Avant (565 l trunk), the BMW 5 Series Touring (570 l), the Mercedes-Benz E Class Estate (640 l) or the Volvo V90 (560 l).
The Sportbrake can have Diesel or petrol engines, front or full wheel drive and manual or automatic transmission. The Diesel engines are two, a 2.0 four- cylinder that is offered with three power levels (163, 180 and 240 horsepower) and a 3.0 six-cylinder with 300 hp. At the moment there is only one version with petrol engine, four-cylinder, 2.0 liter and turbocharging, which gives 250 horses. The only version that can have manual shift of six gears is the Diesel of 163 horses. The remaining engines are associated with an eight-ratio automatic transmission.
There are five levels of equipment: Pure, Prestige, Portfolio, R-Sport and S. The top three have a more luxurious approach and the latter two, more sporty. For the body you can choose two solid colors and eight metallic.
The equipment is shared, almost in its entirety, with the XF saloon. As in this, the instrumentation can be formed by traditional needle indicators or by a screen of 12.3 inches, the interior lighting can choose from 10 colors, the air conditioner can be four zones and the seats can have up to 20 possible regulations . Optionally, there is also a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade that is handled by gestures (opens and closes by moving the hand behind or behind the internal rearview mirror).
The rear seats can be folded down in a 40:20:40 ratio, so that there is a larger loading surface. Taking advantage of all the available space, the volume of load is 1700 liters. To cover the trunk there is a retractable curtain that partially rises when opening the gate (as in an E-Class Estate or a V90). Optionally, there is a dividing net that prevents objects from sticking to the passenger compartment during traffic (this is a standard on the Volvo V90, for example). The tailgate has electric opening and closing as standard, and you can add the option of control by means of gestures with the foot (which facilitates loading and unloading of the car with two hands occupied).
The XF Sportbrake is equipped with a tow assist assistant as standard. There are two tow balls of 50 mm diameter available at an additional cost, one manually detachable and another with an electric deployment system. Its maximum towing capacity is 1900 kg for the petrol version and 2000 kg for all diesel. Roof bars can support up to 100 kg of load. Jaguar offers different accessories to carry more luggage (such as a trunk with 320 l capacity) or sports elements such as bicycles or skis, among others.
Since the chassis and body of the XF Sportbrake shares the majority of components with the saloon, this technical information regarding its manufacture and its structure is fully useful. Regarding this, there are changes in the front dampers «to ensure that it was as comfortable to drive as the saloon». The aerodynamic coefficient of this variant is 0.29, worse than that of the XF (Cx 0.26) although somewhat common because this type of bodywork offers more resistance to the air.
The rear suspension of all versions is self-leveling type, for which it uses pneumatic springs. In the front axle the shock absorbers and the springs of series are of fixed hardness and, optionally, also can have pneumatic springs. Depending on whether or not the variable hardness suspension is installed, there are two driving mode selectors available: Configurable Dynamics (acts on steering, transmission and throttle adjustment) and Adaptive Dynamics (which adds to the above Control of suspension hardness).
The all-wheel drive versions have a selective torque control system (IDD, Intelligent Driveline Dynamics) that optimizes the torque that comes to each wheel independently to improve traction capacity and guiding accuracy in corners.

There are several multimedia systems available. The most advanced is the Touch Pro, which is handled through a 10-inch screen ( picture ). It is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto systems. This system can be associated with a sound system with 17 speakers from the Meridian specialist.
