The Hardcore Ferrari 488 Leaked, And It’s Called ‘Pista’

Thanks to a leak, we now know the name of the new hardcore Ferrari: 488 Pista. And also the first official photos have leaked.

Another week, another leak. The images surfaced of what is supposed to be the Ferrari 488 hardcore, which the Italians hope will give the Porsche 911 GT2 RS something to think about.

These images appeared on social networks and on the Ferrari Chat web forum. They seem to correlate with Ferrari’s press release style, and the new nose of the car matches that of the test mule and we saw in an earlier leak.

But it will not be called the 488 GTO, as it has been said for a long time. His name is apparently the 488 Pista, which in Italian (and Spanish, as it happens), means to follow. Pista follows the likes of Challenge Stradale, Scuderia and Speciale in the annals of Ferrari’s modern track-based history. We would have preferred GTO, but hey, it’s not like we’d buy one anyway.

Other leaks seem to confirm that the car will have a development of “700 hp more” of the turbocharged V8 3.9 liters of the 488. The additional power, courtesy of the nicked technology of the 488 Challenge race car, is joined by a new body that maximizes its aerodynamic potential.

It is said that the engine itself is 10% lighter than the norm, while the new wheels are surprisingly 40% lighter than normal items.

Production figures are almost certain to be limited to a fixed figure. The prices are probably out of place, as Ferrari will probably have them all pre-sold, but a figure of more than £ 215,000 has been suggested by some media.
