BMW M8 prototype presented at the Nürburgring

BMW has released the first camouflage images of an “early prototype” of the M8. The derived version will be the most powerful of the BMW 8 Series (information of the prototype Series 8 concept ). At the moment there are hardly any details beyond that it will have “bigger air intakes, modified brakes and a sport exhaust with four exits”.

There was never a commercial version of the BMW 8-Series M8, but a prototype developed by department M. Currently, BMW\’s most powerful model is the BMW M6, which has a supercharged 8-cylinder 560 hp ( 600 hp if you add the optional package “competition package”).

Only a few days after BMW confirmed, through the prototype BMW 8 Series Concept , that in 2018 will arrive the new 8 Series, have also confirmed that their engineers are working tirelessly in the BMW M8.

The German brand has taken advantage of the 24 hours of the Nürburgring to present this first prototype fully camouflaged. BMW has not given data on this new model, except that will have classic features of the M models, such as large air intakes, modified brakes and a sports exhaust system with four exhaust pipes.

BMW M division president Frank van Meel has explained that \’ The creation and development of the BMW 8 Series and the M model go hand in hand\’  and added that \’The future BMW M8 will include the 8 Series genes and It will enrich your DNA with a greater sportiness and an extra portion of dynamism, precision and agility.

He will return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans

In addition, the BMW M8 GTE is being developed , a race car that will mark the return of BMW Motorsport to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the season 2018. BMW Motorsport director Jens Marquard says they are planning to launch it during The first half of this year and will debut in the 24 Hours of Dytona at the end of January 2018.
