2019 Lamborghini Urus is the most powerful SUV on the market.
Teased for many months , Lamborghini has officially unveiled its very first SUV: the Urus. As expected, the Lamborghini Urus becomes the most powerful SUV on the market but certainly also one of the most aesthetically aggressive. The SSUV, for Super Sport Utility Vehicle , as the transalpine manufacturer likes to characterize it, joins the Maserati Levante and the Bentley Bentayga in the list of SUVs from a luxury brand. Even if it is not the first off-road of the brand (this is the LM002 presented in 1986), the Urus should allow Lamborghini to double its sales. It is obviously following the eponymous concept car presented in 2012 at the Beijing Motor Show.
2019 Lamborghini Urus
Aesthetically speaking, we recognize the Lamborghini style with a lot of angles. The front is very loaded, the bezel inclined, the glass surface very thin, rear wings very curved, in short, the Urus is not in the half-measure and certainly not in the finesse. Like the Centenario, the rear optics adopt a “Y” shaped light signature while we find a quadruple exhaust outlet that further accentuates the vehicle’s ambitions. The Lamborghini Urus measures 5.11 meters long, 2.02 meters wide and 1.64 meters in height. As you will have noticed, it does not benefit from protections for its bodywork, surely not enough aesthetic for a car of this rank. The Urus can be equipped with wheels up to 23 inches.
Inside, even topo outside with a very loaded set and a multitude of screens. We find ourselves in a Lamborghini with a set inspired by an airplane cockpit … and the new Audi A8 ! We find two screens at the center console and a digital screen in place of conventional needle meters. In the center of the console, we always find this button ignition with red flap. The gear selector is also inspired by aviation. In terms of habitability, the Urus can be offered in two or three seats at the rear. It has a volume of trunk that can go from 616 to 1596 liters.
Until today, the Bentley Bentayga W12 and its 608 horsepower was still the most powerful SUV on the market. The Lamborghini Urus and its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 develops 650 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque at 2200 rpm. This is a block from the KoVoMo family ( Konzern Vee Otto Motoren) manufactured by two Volkswagen Group brands, namely Porsche and Audi. Lamborghini announces a 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.6 seconds, a 0 to 200 km / h in 12.8 seconds and a top speed of 305 km / h. With 2.2 tons on the scale, the performance is rather honorable. To be as efficient as possible, it is equipped with a limited slip differential on the rear axle and rear steered wheels. Forcibly, it is equipped with an all-wheel drive and an automatic eight-speed transmission. As standard, the Lamborghini Urus comes with carbon-ceramic discs of 440 millimeters on the front and 370 millimeters on the back.
Other technical elements are not unknown to us, such as these active anti-roll bars from the Audi SQ7 or an air suspension with three-chamber shock absorbers. A controller located on the center console called Anima ( Adaptive Network Intelligent Management ) allows you to select six modes of driving including three for asphalt: Road, Sport and Race, and three for steep terrain: Sand, Earth and Snow.
Lamborghini hopes to do well like Porsche and his Cayenne (which he takes over the technical bases with the platform MLB Evo) to double its sales. The brand expects 1,000 cars in the first year and up to 3,500 sales by 2019, the first full year of marketing. As a reminder, Lamborghini delivered 3,457 cars worldwide in 2016. To accommodate the Urus, the Italian brand has simply doubled the surface of its factory with an extension of 160,000 m². This also allowed the hiring of 500 people. The Lamborghini Urus will be available from next year at a rate that will turn around 200,000 euros in France after Stefano Domenicali, the boss at Lamborghini.
