2019 BMW X4 Review, improved suspension, wider tracks

“The second-generation BMW X4 combines a distinctive and dynamic silhouette with a clear and simplified use of shapes,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president of group design at BMW.

At the front receives a larger kidney-shaped grille, two headlights, and horizontal fog lights. The roofline is tilted back, and the rear gets sleek, new LED lights and two tailpipes. Pleasant.

Under the hood, the BMW X4 xDrive30i packs a twin-turbo four-cylinder engine that delivers 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. BMW says it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6 respectable seconds.

The BMW X4 M40i is equipped with an in-line six-cylinder engine delivering 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds decent.

Both models are paired with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission with all-wheel drive. There’s also a launch control function and shifters on the steering wheel to play with more adventurous races at the mall or passing Audis on the highway.

Drivers can choose between Sport, Comfort and Eco Pro modes. Plus, there is a Sport option if you are willing to pay extra.

Inside, the cabin is a little more spacious, with several different options depending on the finish lines, all with mood lighting in at least six flavors.

BMW says there is an increase of about 3 inches in outside length bringing the “all new” X4 to 187.5 inches; 2.1 inches added to the wheelbase-now 112.7 inches; an extra 1.4 inches in width-now 75 inches; and a drop from 0.1 inches tall to 63.8 inches for the SUV / crossover.

Off-roaders will appreciate the 8-inch X4’s ground clearance, which allows for a deep depth of 19.6 inches.

The 19.4 degree crossing angle and approach and departure angles of 25.7 and 22.6 degrees respectively will also be useful on the runway or streets of Lower Manhattan.

The price of the BMW X4 xDrive30i 2019 starts at $ 51,445 and the M40i at $ 61,445. The new models will be available at resellers in July – if you plan to trade in your Z4, send us a line.
