2016 Bentley Bentayga SUV Spyshot, Release, Specs – After months of rumours, Bentley has officially confirmed that its first ever SUV will be named the Bentayga. Now enduring the last stages of development and testing, the luxury SUV will go on sale in 2016 – but the full production car will be unveiled at a motor show later this year.
2016 Bentley Bentayga SUV caught in a parking lot wearing only small amounts of disguise. Unlike previous spy photos of the SUV, the Bentayga isn’t wearing any prosthetic lumps and bumps to help disguise its shape. That said, this vehicle does seem to be wearing a secondary front bumper that masks out some of the design cues applied to the SUV’s front end.
Fortunately for us, there was already this pre-release to shoot specimens that envelops the only tiny, confusing camouflage. So we can easily guess what awaits us and misses, and above all it can be paired with the previous concept. Drastic changes for the better are evident at first sight, and he probably most important difference is the rounded edges that have shaped the character of the concept. The result is a more “bentleyovský” and corresponds to the current level design language of the brand.
it knows that Bentayga is built on a platform of MLB, which came out with the new Audi Q7 . We can therefore expect a mix of steel and aluminum, which will stand at a relatively low weight. With that then has to fight a six-liter twelve, but also diesel and even since 2017, hybrid gasoline-electric system.
The Bentley SUV EXP 9 F concept was previewed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012, but the manufacturer later confirmed that it has significantly changed the design in response to customer feedback.
Bentley released a sketch to accompany this announcement that revealed a slightly sportier profile than the upright concept. There’s an uncanny resemblance to Porsche’s Cayenne, too, suggesting the two SUVs will share more than just a platform – they’ll have similar proportions as well.
2016 Bentley Bentayga SUV: why’s it called Bentayga?
“Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, Bentley Chairman and CEO.
The name is designed to encapsulate the wide variety of climates and terrains that the Bentayga is capable of tackling. It comes from a combination of ‘Taiga’ – the world’s largest snow forest that crowns the entire Northern Hemisphere – and Roque Bentayga, a rugged peak in the Canary Islands.
